NARS Sheer Glow Foundation Review

Hey everyone, it bought a new foundation recently and had to buy another shade to mix! I only got the second shade a couple of weeks ago and have been testing it out! The foundation I’m talking about is, of course, NARS Sheer Glow Foundation!

image

image

NARS Sheer Glow Foundation ($68 AUD $44 USD) has 30 ml of product, like most foundations. This foundation comes in a square, glass bottle with a square, matte black plastic lid. A pump is available to purchase (unless it is constantly sold out) which would make it easier to access the right amount of foundation. Once you have applied the NARS pump, you can’t use the lid! Although pumps are more convenient, I like to give my foundation a good shake before use! I love the packaging – NARS packaging usually does appeal to me!

image

image

For me, it is hard to find a match with a foundation… To much pink, too much yellow… Too orange, oxidises. Too thick, too thin… I could go on and on!!! With NARS Sheer Glow, there is no oxidising, it really is the perfect consistency too! It blends amazing and looks natural enough to wear full converge! I bought two different shades, mostly because I fluctuate in colour! Summer – tan, winter – pale! Also, I have a more neutral skin tone, not more pink or yellow/orange. The two shades I purchased are Mont Blanc (light 2 pink undertones) and Punjab (medium 1 peach/orange undertones).

image
image

NARS Sheer Glow feels light and creamy and not at all tacky. It feels and applies like a light coverage foundation but it is medium coverage! I like to apply Sheer Glow all over my face (either with a brush or my fingers) then let it dry and apply again where I want fuller coverage! The end result is a sort of satin finish and completely dries without a setting powder! I found that if I had any dry areas they were more obvious but I don’t usually have dry skin so it doesn’t bother me! I do find that my nose does become oily, so make sure to put on a pressed powder if you have this problem too!

image
image

I compared NARS Sheer Glow Foundation with some similar coloured foundations:
REVLON Colorstay (normal/dry skin) in 150 Buff compared to Mont Blanc – Buff is a lot more yellow toned and thicker and tackier in consistency.
MAYBELLINE Instant Age Rewind in 130 Buff Beige is so similar in consistency, texture and finish. I’d say this could possibly be a dupe! I’ll have to investigate! Colour wise, Buff Beige is a bit more pink toned.
MAYBELLINE Super Stay Makeup in Nude is waaaay thicker, it is also very orange and oxidises pretty bad! This is reserved for my super fake tan days!

I think NARS Sheer Glow Foundation is the best foundation I have ever used, I like a medium coverage but lightweight foundation and this is exactly what I am looking for, I don’t mind having to mix shades because I know these two shades will match me no matter what season, it’s great if you are a fake tan wearer or, like me, you have more of a neutral skin tone!
I think NARS Sheer Glow is my new holy grail foundation!

I Have Found The Perfect Nude Lipstick!

You know that exciting feeling when you’re waiting for a package? When you get the package? When you open up the exciting package and you hurry to take pictures and then FINALLY you get to try on the product… Have you ever found the perfect product? How about the perfect lipstick?

I am about to make a pretty big statement… I have found my perfect nude lipstick.

Finding the perfect lipstick happened by chance, I purchased the YSL Glossy Stain in the shade Corail Aquatique, long story short – I hated it! Even longer story short, I swapped my YSL Glossy Stain with a friend for MAC Flair For Finery lipstick – the lipstick that I have fallen in love with.

image
image
image

Flair For Finery is a part of MAC Cosmetics Divine Night holiday collection for 2013. I tend to avoid MAC collections lately because there seems to be a new one every five minutes! Also, what happens if I find something I can’t live without and it never gets made permanent! The Divine Night collection has the best packaging, it is beautiful! The tube is a matte black with gold details instead of a shimmery black with silver details, even the MAC logo is gold!

image
image
image
image
image

Flair For Finery is described as “a cool pink nude” which is pretty accurate but I find this lipstick to be a lovely neutral nude on myself. Flair For Finery has the perfect amount of pink and beige for my skin tone. It is a Lustre finish, semi opaque and glossy! The best way to describe Flair For Finery is kind of like my favorite pink nude mixed with my favorite beige nude! When worn either sheer or opaque, Flair For Finery does not wash me out on bit, I think it does the opposite, my face seems brighter when I’m wearing it!

image
image
image

The best thing about this lipstick is that it applies sheer and can be built up to be opaque. I think this is when most people wouldn’t like this type of lipstick. I find that when applied thicker, you have to kind of wait for the lipstick to melt into your lips and it is definitely worth it! If you have a lipstick that applies a bit chunky, try waiting for it to “melt in” and you may have a new favorite lipstick!

Basically what I’m saying is if you get the chance you kinda might need Flair For Finery. I’m already buying a backup – something I haven’t ever done with a lipstick!

NARS Lamu Multiple Review & Swatches!

Hey everyone, today I’m going to introduce you to the newest member of my NARS Multiple family, meet Lamu! I hope you love pictures…

image
image
image
image

Lamu is a gorgeous apricot colour with gold glitter throughout. The combination of apricot and gold glitter makes me think instantly of how gorgeous this would look on tanned skin – this would be perfect for lazy summer days or nights – instant bronzed goddess! I guess I discovered Lamu at the perfect time since here in Australia it is now the last month of spring! Don’t get me wrong Lamu will work all year round if you wear whatever you like whenever you like showing those seasons who is boss!

image
image
image
image

I like Multiples mostly because they are like cream blush for beginners! Multiples come in a stick form and are creamy and wonderful when first applied, when you have finished blending the texture is like a powder feel! Lamu definitely isn’t for a sleek & polished look – it most likely isn’t going to fit into your everyday office attire. Lamu brings not only super glowing apricot, but also a HEAP of glitter! Somehow the glitter fits in well and doesn’t emphasise your imperfections – in saying that I don’t think that Multiples are intended to be used anywhere that fine lines or wrinkles are involved!
Another thing I LOVE about multiples is the lack of fragrance – yay!

image

I apply Lamu by swirling my index finger on the top until I have enough product, next I swipe in an upwards motion where I would normally use blush (I usually do 3 swipes) and blend! For multiples with glitter or when I’m not wearing foundation I simply blend with my fingers!

image
image

I compared Lamu with another NARS Multiple, a best seller in Australia, Puerto Vallarta. Although they could be put into the same colour category, they really aren’t similar! Puerto Vallarta is a lot more intense, colour wise. It has a much stronger pigment! The biggest difference between the two is Lamu is packed with glitter and Puerto Vallarta has a gorgeous glow suitable for day or night!
Overall I think that this won’t be my least used multiple! I can’t wait to get stuck into this on lazy makeup days; by now it shouldn’t surprise you how much I love NARS Multiples!

Benefit SUGARBOMB! Review & Swatches!

Hey everyone! I got Sugarbomb by Benefit last month and I have been using it like crazy! Benefit says this Box o’ Powder “is your sugar rush flush” which is adorable! This blush has four different colours – peach, pink, plum & rose – and is described as “sweet sugary peach pink” which is pretty spot on!

image
image

I have been wearing this blush with Rockateur almost every day! I first apply Sugarbomb all over my cheek and where I would usually use a cheek highlight, I next add a layer of Rockateur and I apply this just above my contour!

image

My favourite thing about this blush combination is how beautiful and glowing it looks! I have been quite tan lately and this is just stunning, it gives a glowing, healthy sunkissed look

image

One thing that I really don’t understand about Sugarbomb is that on the product (the bottom half of the box) the image is chocolate, it’s shaved chocolate with chocolate pieces! I really don’t get it haha, it doesn’t smell like chocolate… It doesn’t look like chocolate…

image

This blush is definitely going into my favourites! I can’t imagine this blush not looking good on anyone! I would definitely repurchase this blush – if I ever get through it!

Orange Lips Alert! Innoxa Matte Lipstick in Tangerine & Invisible Lip Liner!

Hey everyone! If you already have Instagram you will already know how many competitions are held on there! So I entered an Innoxa competition, all you have to do is repost a picture to have a chance of winning, and I won!

image

For anyone who doesn’t know, Innoxa was created in France in 1920. The brand prides itself by being hypo-allergenic and good for your face! The products are also paraben free & not tested on animals, yay! Innoxa is stocked in Myer, Priceline and various pharmacies in Australia and also in New Zealand.

So today my little package arrived with a letter stating what I have won and some pretty, colorful pictures, so many pretty colours… Back to what I was saying…

image
image

The first product I have here is the Invisible Lip Shaper. According to the Innoxa website the Invisible Lip Shaper softens and contours the lips and can also be used as a lip primer. I’m super happy about this product because I don’t own a lip primer! I also like that this can be worn under any shade I like! The Invisible Lip Shaper has a baby pink pearlescent tube, the packaging is really pretty!

image

The Invisible Lip Primer makes the lips appear matte, the texture is like a combination of soft wax and a balm! I really like the way it makes my lips look! I can’t really capture that in a photo since it is invisible, of course.

image

And now for the best bit, new lipstick! I’m a serious lipstick hoarder and this lipstick is the reason I entered the competition! So here I have the Summer Matte Lipstick in the shade Tangerine! Innoxa Summer Matte Lipsticks contain Jojoba oil and vitamins C & E which will be great for my lips!

image
image
image

The colour is no joke, it is seriously Tangerine, it’s like an explosion of orange and it makes my teeth look awesomely white! This is definitely not a “grandma orange” (unless you have a really awesome grandma)! The lipstick is housed in a square silver tube with Innoxa printed on the lid. There is a colour window at the bottom that shows the colour of the lipstick inside!

image
imageimage

If you live in Australia or New Zealand, I recommend checking out Innoxa! Both of these products retail for $14.95. The lipstick formula is so creamy and moisturizing! If you are from elsewhere in the world then I guess you’re just going to have to go without… Or wait for my awesome giveaway hint hint!

xx Amanda

* The products discussed In this post were won by me from the brand Innoxa (yay). The opinions are my own and this is not sponsored in any way!

Benefit Rockateur Review & Swatches!

Hey everyone!

As you may know from my Birthday Haul post, I am the proud owner of the newest addition to Benefits family of boxed powders. Benefit Cosmetics are best known for their highly praised boxed powders!

rockateur
(image from benefitcosmetics.com)

The packaging is a combination of girly and rock – it kinda makes me think of Avril Lavigne, hahaha. Instead of the usual flat bristled brush, Rockateur comes with an angled brush for easier application. The box is the flip top design like the rest.

IMG_4897

Benefit has been criticized over the different amount of product in Rockateur compared to the other boxed powders, for example Benefit’s Sugarbomb powder weighs 12g (0.42 oz.) but Rockateur weighs 5g (0.17 oz.). I think that the difference in product amount is because with Rockateur, Benefit changed the formula.

IMG_5186

Rockateur feels smoother and silkier, a lot less powdery, it blends really well but I think some places can look a little heavier – building it up in layers is the best option. The texture reminds me of MAC’s Mineralize Skinfish.

IMG_4903

The scent is like the other boxed powders but concentrated, it is soooo strong! I don’t think that it’s a good or bad thing. The smell is pleasant and it makes my makeup area smell awesome.

IMG_4904

I am in love with the design on the actual powder, so much so that I didn’t use it until today! The colour is gorgeous, Benefit describes it as “rose gold” and that is pretty accurate. Maybe a dusty rose gold would describe Rockateur a bit better. This blush is absolutely glowing, it is gorgeous! After the first couple of uses the shimmer is gone but the glow stays.

IMG_5181

Rockateur would be a gorgeous blush for fair to medium skin tones; I think it could make a pretty highlight shade for really deep skin tones. If you are tan then this blush is going to be your new best friend. I seriously can’t get enough of this blush! I think the packaging, the product, everything is just adorable! I think the overall product is super appealing to a lot of women in all different age groups; this would look fantastic on all women if used right!

(wearing Rockateur with no other cheek products)

If you have a Benefit stockist close you should definitely check out Rockateur, it is truly gorgeous and I don’t think you’re going to be able to avoid purchasing it! If you’re an Australian like me, Rockateur will set you back $55 AUD, if you feel this is a little steep, buy it online at Benefit Cosmetics for $28 USD, they ship internationally!

Yves Saint Laurent Golden Gloss in Pebble, Review & Swatches!

image

One of the top selling lip products by Yves Saint Laurent is the Golden Gloss, last year Golden Pebble was released amongst three other shades for Summer. I received Golden Pebble for my birthday and although this was a Summer collection this particular shade screams Winter.

image

The packaging is absolutely gorgeous as you would expect from YSL. The gloss sits in a thick transparent plastic square tube, the tube twists open and closed. The lid is a golden mirrored plastic with the Yves Saint Laurent logo on the front. The plastic tube is transparent revealing the actual product inside.

image

YSL describes the Golden Gloss as “Worth its weight in gold, this gorgeous gloss dresses lips in a sophisticated, high-shine shimmer that’s truly precious. Sparkling 24 carat gold flecks (0.2%) create a mirror-like effect for guaranteed glamour, while a complex of nourishing oils protect and hydrate for optimal comfort. Scented with a subtle hint of Mango that’s utterly irresistible.”

image

The scent is a little overwhelming to me, it definitely isn’t mango… Maybe peach? It reminds me a bit of the smell of Rimmel lip products.

image

When first applied the gloss sits on the lips and seems to slowly melt in. You can definitely feel it on your lips but it isn’t sticky or tacky, you won’t feel the glitter at all.

image

This gloss can be worn sheer or heavy, when sheer the Golden Pebble gives a gorgeous fresh out of the cold look. I prefer to wear Golden Pebble sheer. The colour is described as ‘burgundy plum’ which is quite accurate. The gloss in the tube appears overly glittery but it definitely isn’t on the lips, purple is the predominant colour shown in the glitter.

image

If you have constant dry lips I think another shade might suit you better, Golden Pebble can sink into fine lines and cracks.

image

I haven’t tried any of the other shades, I am liking this product! If you have a Yves Saint Laurent counter available you should have a look at the Golden Gloss selection, they are a best-seller for a reason!
