NARS Sheer Glow Foundation Review

Hey everyone, it bought a new foundation recently and had to buy another shade to mix! I only got the second shade a couple of weeks ago and have been testing it out! The foundation I’m talking about is, of course, NARS Sheer Glow Foundation!

NARS Sheer Glow Foundation ($68 AUD $44 USD) has 30 ml of product, like most foundations. This foundation comes in a square, glass bottle with a square, matte black plastic lid. A pump is available to purchase (unless it is constantly sold out) which would make it easier to access the right amount of foundation. Once you have applied the NARS pump, you can’t use the lid! Although pumps are more convenient, I like to give my foundation a good shake before use! I love the packaging – NARS packaging usually does appeal to me!

For me, it is hard to find a match with a foundation… To much pink, too much yellow… Too orange, oxidises. Too thick, too thin… I could go on and on!!! With NARS Sheer Glow, there is no oxidising, it really is the perfect consistency too! It blends amazing and looks natural enough to wear full converge! I bought two different shades, mostly because I fluctuate in colour! Summer – tan, winter – pale! Also, I have a more neutral skin tone, not more pink or yellow/orange. The two shades I purchased are Mont Blanc (light 2 pink undertones) and Punjab (medium 1 peach/orange undertones).

image
image

NARS Sheer Glow feels light and creamy and not at all tacky. It feels and applies like a light coverage foundation but it is medium coverage! I like to apply Sheer Glow all over my face (either with a brush or my fingers) then let it dry and apply again where I want fuller coverage! The end result is a sort of satin finish and completely dries without a setting powder! I found that if I had any dry areas they were more obvious but I don’t usually have dry skin so it doesn’t bother me! I do find that my nose does become oily, so make sure to put on a pressed powder if you have this problem too!

image
image

I compared NARS Sheer Glow Foundation with some similar coloured foundations:
REVLON Colorstay (normal/dry skin) in 150 Buff compared to Mont Blanc – Buff is a lot more yellow toned and thicker and tackier in consistency.
MAYBELLINE Instant Age Rewind in 130 Buff Beige is so similar in consistency, texture and finish. I’d say this could possibly be a dupe! I’ll have to investigate! Colour wise, Buff Beige is a bit more pink toned.
MAYBELLINE Super Stay Makeup in Nude is waaaay thicker, it is also very orange and oxidises pretty bad! This is reserved for my super fake tan days!

I think NARS Sheer Glow Foundation is the best foundation I have ever used, I like a medium coverage but lightweight foundation and this is exactly what I am looking for, I don’t mind having to mix shades because I know these two shades will match me no matter what season, it’s great if you are a fake tan wearer or, like me, you have more of a neutral skin tone!
I think NARS Sheer Glow is my new holy grail foundation!

NARS One Night Stand Palette Review & Swatches!

Hey everyone, today’s post is an exciting one! NARS lovers, I hope you’re ready! Have you ever seen something and immediately known that you kinda need it in your life? Well for me that was the One Night Stand Palette from the NARS x Guy Bourdin collection! Ever since I saw this palette I knew I had to have it, especially since I missed out on the Danmari Palette.

The One Night Stand palette comes in the usual sleek and soft packaging with NARS printed on the lid, there is also a red lipstick smear with Guy Bourdin written on it. Inside the palette is a full sized mirror which is great! The pans in the palette are separated well and are definitely big enough for a blush brush!

image
image
image

This palette contains 6 individual pans – each pan contains 4g of product! Included are 4 blushes, a bronzer and a highlighter. Of the 6 shades included 3 are brand new! Even though I already own Orgasm (mini) and Laguna (duo) I had to have this palette simply for the brand new shades, I’m not sure if they will become permanent, though. I think that sometimes when palettes are made, the quality can be a little… Lacking. That is definitely not the case for the One Night Stand palette – the quality is NARS standard, just gorgeous!

Firstly there is Devotee – a pale, frosty, pink based highlighter. This shade is extremely shimmery! The pink tone makes it a perfect highlight shade to wear with any of these blushes, Devotee is also stunning as an eyeshadow!
The next shade is Mistinguette – a matte, bright pink! This shade makes me instantly think of Saint Germain by MAC! Mistinguette is a little scary to look at in the pan but it transfers to a lovely glowing pink on the cheeks! I should also mention that this blush feels way too soft to be a matte!

image

image

I’m going to skip Orgasm, Laguna & Deep Throat for now!

The last shade in the palette is Goulou, this is a medium dirty pink/berry color, packed with golden shimmer. Unexpectedly, Goulou is my favourite of the palette! There may be similar shades out there but I haven’t seen one like it! I have a tan at the moment and I can see this blush getting a lot of wear when I have a tan!

image

This palette took my by surprise a little, the quality is beautiful, the colors are beautiful, it’s a must for a NARS lover! One thing I would suggest is please… No more Orgasm… Otherwise this palette is just what I hoped it would be, and it sold out so fast! I heard that there will be another release in December – smart! I think this palette would be awesome for anyone really, whether you don’t own any NARS blushes or if you own them all there will definitely be something about the One Night Stand palette that you will like!

** There is some controversy surrounding this collection by NARS. The photography by Guy Bourdin has been said to represent violence against women. Although I sincerely do not think this is what was intended I respect both decisions – whether people buy this collection or not. I am choosing to keep my opinion to myself – I’m here for the makeup!

NARS Lamu Multiple Review & Swatches!

Hey everyone, today I’m going to introduce you to the newest member of my NARS Multiple family, meet Lamu! I hope you love pictures…

image
image
image
image

Lamu is a gorgeous apricot colour with gold glitter throughout. The combination of apricot and gold glitter makes me think instantly of how gorgeous this would look on tanned skin – this would be perfect for lazy summer days or nights – instant bronzed goddess! I guess I discovered Lamu at the perfect time since here in Australia it is now the last month of spring! Don’t get me wrong Lamu will work all year round if you wear whatever you like whenever you like showing those seasons who is boss!

image
image
image
image

I like Multiples mostly because they are like cream blush for beginners! Multiples come in a stick form and are creamy and wonderful when first applied, when you have finished blending the texture is like a powder feel! Lamu definitely isn’t for a sleek & polished look – it most likely isn’t going to fit into your everyday office attire. Lamu brings not only super glowing apricot, but also a HEAP of glitter! Somehow the glitter fits in well and doesn’t emphasise your imperfections – in saying that I don’t think that Multiples are intended to be used anywhere that fine lines or wrinkles are involved!
Another thing I LOVE about multiples is the lack of fragrance – yay!

image

I apply Lamu by swirling my index finger on the top until I have enough product, next I swipe in an upwards motion where I would normally use blush (I usually do 3 swipes) and blend! For multiples with glitter or when I’m not wearing foundation I simply blend with my fingers!

image
image

I compared Lamu with another NARS Multiple, a best seller in Australia, Puerto Vallarta. Although they could be put into the same colour category, they really aren’t similar! Puerto Vallarta is a lot more intense, colour wise. It has a much stronger pigment! The biggest difference between the two is Lamu is packed with glitter and Puerto Vallarta has a gorgeous glow suitable for day or night!
Overall I think that this won’t be my least used multiple! I can’t wait to get stuck into this on lazy makeup days; by now it shouldn’t surprise you how much I love NARS Multiples!

NARS Riviera Multiple Review & Swatches!

image

Hey everyone! Last month for my birthday I got a new NARS Multiple. I would say that The Multiple by NARS is one of my favourite beauty products of all time! Riviera is the third (and definitely not my last) Multiple that I now own.

image
image

NARS describes Riviera as a true pink. The colour definitely leans a little peach but it is a gorgeous shade. The best thing about Riviera is that it is the most natural looking cheek product that I have ever used. When I asked my boyfriend how it looked he asked “how does what look?” He really couldn’t tell I was wearing Riviera!

image

NARS Multiples are a huge 14g size. They contain 2g more than an original Benefit Boxed Powder which most will know is a pretty generous amount.

image
(Excuse my pale face!)

I found that Riviera has a totally different texture to Puerto Vallarta and Angelika, the texture is lighter and thinner. When I apply Angelika it is an extremely pigmented and feels almost like a mousse, Puerto Vallarta the same! Riviera is definitely more shimmery, I would describe it as a frosted finish.

Riviera is a beautiful addition to my collection and I love using it on the days when I wear less makeup, it makes me even more excited to try more Multiples!

Full Coverage Foundation Routine!

Hey everyone!

I was actually super excited because I filmed a foundation routine video and when I went to edit it there was nothing there… like my computer ate it! Soooo Annoying! Aaaaanyway, I took some photos of the products I use when I wear a more full coverage foundation.

image

image

At the moment I am loving the Maybelline Age Rewind Primer, I apply this with my fingers. I have tried the Porefessional by Benefit and I actually prefer this! Not only is this product inexpensive but it makes your skin feel amazing. If I am having a no makeup day I like to just smooth this over my T zone.

image

For foundation I mix Maybelline Super Stay Foundation & Skin 79 Super BB Cream. I mix them because I don’t like the feeling of a super thick foundation but I do like the coverage. Mixing the two also give me a perfect colour match! I mix equal parts on the back of my hand and mix with the back end of a brush, once it’s all mixed I buff it in with a rounded synthetic brush!

image

I find that the foundation gives me enough coverage so I only use concealer to highlight. I first use the Maybelline Fit Me Concealer in a triangle under my eyes and blend it in. Next I use the Rimmel Wake Me Up Concealer on my dark circles and then everywhere else I want to highlight which is down my nose, between my brows & my cupids bow. I find that I get the best finish using a precision brush! It’s just like the foundation brush I use but baby sized aww!

image
image

I also use two different pressed powders to set my foundation! I use Rimmel Stay Matte Pressed Powder on the areas that I highlighted, I use a small setting brush to apply. I use Australis Fresh & Flawless Pressed Powder everywhere else and I just pat the powder on with a dense powder brush.

image

Last of all I use Hoola by Benefit to contour. I actually use any matte bronzer to contour! I like using the MAC 168 for a softer, daytime contour and the NARS Ita brush for a more precise contour. The NARS brush makes contouring your nose foolproof!

And there we are! xx Amanda

He also told me that he has a few parts of my present which I could have now or all at once, surprising to everyone I wanted to wait!
