NARS One Night Stand Palette Review & Swatches!

Hey everyone, today’s post is an exciting one! NARS lovers, I hope you’re ready! Have you ever seen something and immediately known that you kinda need it in your life? Well for me that was the One Night Stand Palette from the NARS x Guy Bourdin collection! Ever since I saw this palette I knew I had to have it, especially since I missed out on the Danmari Palette.

The One Night Stand palette comes in the usual sleek and soft packaging with NARS printed on the lid, there is also a red lipstick smear with Guy Bourdin written on it. Inside the palette is a full sized mirror which is great! The pans in the palette are separated well and are definitely big enough for a blush brush!

This palette contains 6 individual pans – each pan contains 4g of product! Included are 4 blushes, a bronzer and a highlighter. Of the 6 shades included 3 are brand new! Even though I already own Orgasm (mini) and Laguna (duo) I had to have this palette simply for the brand new shades, I’m not sure if they will become permanent, though. I think that sometimes when palettes are made, the quality can be a little… Lacking. That is definitely not the case for the One Night Stand palette – the quality is NARS standard, just gorgeous!

Firstly there is Devotee – a pale, frosty, pink based highlighter. This shade is extremely shimmery! The pink tone makes it a perfect highlight shade to wear with any of these blushes, Devotee is also stunning as an eyeshadow!
The next shade is Mistinguette – a matte, bright pink! This shade makes me instantly think of Saint Germain by MAC! Mistinguette is a little scary to look at in the pan but it transfers to a lovely glowing pink on the cheeks! I should also mention that this blush feels way too soft to be a matte!

I’m going to skip Orgasm, Laguna & Deep Throat for now!

The last shade in the palette is Goulou, this is a medium dirty pink/berry color, packed with golden shimmer. Unexpectedly, Goulou is my favourite of the palette! There may be similar shades out there but I haven’t seen one like it! I have a tan at the moment and I can see this blush getting a lot of wear when I have a tan!

This palette took my by surprise a little, the quality is beautiful, the colors are beautiful, it’s a must for a NARS lover! One thing I would suggest is please… No more Orgasm… Otherwise this palette is just what I hoped it would be, and it sold out so fast! I heard that there will be another release in December – smart! I think this palette would be awesome for anyone really, whether you don’t own any NARS blushes or if you own them all there will definitely be something about the One Night Stand palette that you will like!

** There is some controversy surrounding this collection by NARS. The photography by Guy Bourdin has been said to represent violence against women. Although I sincerely do not think this is what was intended I respect both decisions – whether people buy this collection or not. I am choosing to keep my opinion to myself – I’m here for the makeup!

Benefit SUGARBOMB! Review & Swatches!

Hey everyone! I got Sugarbomb by Benefit last month and I have been using it like crazy! Benefit says this Box o’ Powder “is your sugar rush flush” which is adorable! This blush has four different colours – peach, pink, plum & rose – and is described as “sweet sugary peach pink” which is pretty spot on!

image
image

I have been wearing this blush with Rockateur almost every day! I first apply Sugarbomb all over my cheek and where I would usually use a cheek highlight, I next add a layer of Rockateur and I apply this just above my contour!

image

My favourite thing about this blush combination is how beautiful and glowing it looks! I have been quite tan lately and this is just stunning, it gives a glowing, healthy sunkissed look

image

One thing that I really don’t understand about Sugarbomb is that on the product (the bottom half of the box) the image is chocolate, it’s shaved chocolate with chocolate pieces! I really don’t get it haha, it doesn’t smell like chocolate… It doesn’t look like chocolate…

image

This blush is definitely going into my favourites! I can’t imagine this blush not looking good on anyone! I would definitely repurchase this blush – if I ever get through it!

NARS Orgasm Lip Dupes!

I absolutely love the idea of NARS Orgasm, I just wish it performed better! I have tried to find some lip products the same shade as NARS Orgasm that aren’t as expensive as the NARS gloss!

image

Here are my NARS Orgasm Lip Dupes!

image

AVON Ultra Colour Rich Lipstick in Pink Pop
A little darker and more pink.

image

NARS Velvet Gloss Lip Pencil in New Lover
Darker and less gold glitter.

image

Rimmel Stay Glossy Lipgloss in All Day Seduction
Pretty much the same!

image

NYX Round Lipstick in Indian Pink
More of a golden sheen not glitter.

image

My lips are really pigmented so before each lip product was applied I used a dab of concealer on them! I think any of these lip products would match Orgasm but I think the Rimmel Stay Glossy Lipgloss is the best dupe!xx Amanda

NARS Multiple Review & Swatches – Puerto Vallarta & Angelika

image

image

Every woman has her favourite products and a lot of the time a NARS product will be on that list. I love reading product reviews and NARS blushes are often rated pretty high! A product that has always visually appealed to me are the Multiples. Over time I have read some seriously mixed reviews about the Multiple, extremely bad, extremely good and everywhere in between. So what do I do in this kind of situation? I buy one, of course!

image

image

In case you haven’t encountered a NARS Multiple, they are a multipurpose product that can be used anywhere, specifically cheeks, eyes & lips. I currently own two Multiples (hopefully three after my birthday) and they are in my top ten products, definitely.

image

image

The two Multiples that I own are Puerto Vallarta & Angelika. Puerto Vallarta is a new shade and was realeased for Summer 2013. Angelika was a part of the Tainted Love set and also comes in blush and lipgloss form, Angelika is quite popular in powder blush form! Both of my NARS Multiples have the same texture, they have a creamy mousse feel that dries to a powder finish.

image

image

Unlike the Angelika powder blush and gloss, the Angelika Multiple has iridescent shimmers, the traditional Angelika has silver shimmers. NARS did a fantastic job at keeping the colour, though. All of my Angelikas are the same shade and beautifully pigmented! Puerto Vallarta has gold shimmers and is more frosty than Angelika, I can’t wait to wear it with a bronze summer look! The multiples last about 6 hours on me a bit more some days a bit less some days, depending on other products I use as well.

image

I think Puerto Vallarta will be amazing in Spring and Summer! I just couldn’t resist the Multiple, I love everything about them. They can be worn sheer or built up, they can be worn on the lips although they’re a but giant for a lipstick! I am pro Multiple and I prefer a dewy finish foundation so these work for me! I think all you can do is make your own opinion when it comes to whether you’re going to like something or not which I’m SO glad I figured out! xx Amanda

FOTD ft. Nars – Coconut Grove

Today my makeup was super quick & easy! I thought I’d put together a little FOTD (Face Of The Day) post!

image

image

First I applied Palmers Eventone BB Cream in Fair/light all over my face but avoiding under my eyes – this product has SPF. I then concealed under my eyes using Rimmel London Wake Me Up Concealer in 010 Ivory bringing it down about 2cm for a little under eye highlight. While the concealer set I used the Elf Eyebrow Kit in Ash (I only used the wax side) to fill in my brows!

image

From the Naked 2 palette I used Tease in my crease and blended it out with Foxy, I used Bootycall as a brow highlight. I used my Nars single eyeshadow in Coconut Grove on my eyelid and blended into the crease. I also used Avon Super Shock Max Mascara (not pictured).

image

I was going for bronzed cheeks so I used Nars Laguna for a very light contour and Physicians Formula Happy Booster Light Bronzer as a blush. To highlight I used Elf blush in Gotta Glow.

image

I lined my lips with NYX 839 Dolly Pink lip liner and dabbed MAC Saint Germain lipstick on top!

7 hours later and my eyeshadow hasn’t creased, even without a base! Yay!

MAC Viva Glam Nicki 2, Saint Germain, Full of Joy & Peony Petal

image

So I recently bought a new Saint Germain lipstick and Viva Glam Nicki 2 lipstick from MAC! I had been debating whether or not to buy Nicki 2 but I knew I would regret it if I didn’t buy it! After I got my Nicki 2 lipstick I wanted to find a lilac blush to go with it for Spring. I remembered MAC’s Tres Cheek collection from Summer (Australia’s Winter) last year, there was the prettiest lilac blush called Full of Joy and I just had to find one!

image
(L-R Viva Glam Nicki 2, Full of Joy, Saint Germain, Peony Petal)

I found a seller on eBay who guaranteed 100% authenticity on her products and had a couple of the blushes from the collection. I emailed her straight away double checking that it was definitely real, authentic MAC. When I got a reply guaranteeing that it was real, I grabbed the last available Full of Joy blush! I was looking through the collection swatches and I saw Peony Petal! I thought that Peony Petal could be Saint Germain’s new best friend!

image

Saint Germain in so pretty, I love MAC’s Amplified lipsticks, they have a beautiful finish! This colour is so Barbie I will be repurchasing forever haha it is the most perfect blue based bright pink and is so creamy and soft.

image

I fell in love with Viva Glam Nicki 2 the moment I saw it on the promotional posters, I didn’t think that it would be a colour i would wear but I’m so glad I have it now! The best way to describe it is a creamy pastel lavender. I find that the most perfect way to wear it is with a slightly darker lipstick underneath, I use NYX Power!

image

Peony Petal is a satin finish apparently but I beg to differ! This blush is matte! There isn’t even a slight shine or anything! This blush can be worn super sheer or built up to look exactly like it does in the pan and it is beautiful! It is a blue based pink and I did a good job assuming that it would match Saint Germain! There is no fallout and this blush is so easy to work with unlike most matte finishes! I love blue based colours, they make a tan look 100 times better!

image

Full of Joy is my new favourite product. This blush is labeled as a frost and again I disagree, this blush is not frosty, more of a satin finish! Full of Joy is a blue based lavender – perfect for Viva Glam Nicki 2! I love how this product feels! So smooth and buttery! When you wear this blush you definitely don’t need to wear a highlighter, I love how it appears kind of glowing! I could talk about this blush forever!

image

This was a bit of a random combination of colours but I’m a sucker for blue based blushes! I absolutely love all four of these products and I can’t wait til spring to pair them with some pretty pastel eyeshadows!

If you can get your hands on these blushes I definitely recommend getting one at least, it was such an underrated collection! I was told by one of the MAC girls that Nicki 2 will be discontinued after September so get it before its all gone!
