Social Media

Hey everyone, I am going to make a confession. I am an Instagram addict… Haha. But seriously, I prefer my iPad to my laptop, it makes life easier. It also makes social media easier! I have been getting into social media a lot lately, I love following and chatting with people with the same interests as me!

I’d love to know if any of you have accounts on other platforms, please let me know and I’ll follow/subscribe to you! I don’t currently use Twitter, I just got into Tumblr!

Something Else About Me

Hey everyone! So I’ve been a little absent this week, I thought my last post was posted but it was saved in drafts, ughhhhh. It’s all sorted now!

Anyway! Besides beauty blogging, one of my hobbies is art, I have always been a creative mess which is a whole different story. I am a big starter-and-never-finisher of projects, I do get a lot of my work “finished” but I can honestly say I have only ever truly finished one piece of work. I have never been able to explain it (the only others who “get” me have also been into creating art) but I feel that pieces of art are never “finished” and can always be improved – it’s one of the reasons most of my work stays in sketchbooks. I thought I’d share this with you all because it is a pretty big part of my life! Here are a couple of pieces that I’ve been working on!

I’d love to know if any of you are into art!

Benefit Rockateur Review & Swatches!

Hey everyone!

As you may know from my Birthday Haul post, I am the proud owner of the newest addition to Benefits family of boxed powders. Benefit Cosmetics are best known for their highly praised boxed powders!

(image from

The packaging is a combination of girly and rock – it kinda makes me think of Avril Lavigne, hahaha. Instead of the usual flat bristled brush, Rockateur comes with an angled brush for easier application. The box is the flip top design like the rest.

Benefit has been criticized over the different amount of product in Rockateur compared to the other boxed powders, for example Benefit’s Sugarbomb powder weighs 12g (0.42 oz.) but Rockateur weighs 5g (0.17 oz.). I think that the difference in product amount is because with Rockateur, Benefit changed the formula.

Rockateur feels smoother and silkier, a lot less powdery, it blends really well but I think some places can look a little heavier – building it up in layers is the best option. The texture reminds me of MAC’s Mineralize Skinfish.

The scent is like the other boxed powders but concentrated, it is soooo strong! I don’t think that it’s a good or bad thing. The smell is pleasant and it makes my makeup area smell awesome.

I am in love with the design on the actual powder, so much so that I didn’t use it until today! The colour is gorgeous, Benefit describes it as “rose gold” and that is pretty accurate. Maybe a dusty rose gold would describe Rockateur a bit better. This blush is absolutely glowing, it is gorgeous! After the first couple of uses the shimmer is gone but the glow stays.

Rockateur would be a gorgeous blush for fair to medium skin tones; I think it could make a pretty highlight shade for really deep skin tones. If you are tan then this blush is going to be your new best friend. I seriously can’t get enough of this blush! I think the packaging, the product, everything is just adorable! I think the overall product is super appealing to a lot of women in all different age groups; this would look fantastic on all women if used right!

(wearing Rockateur with no other cheek products)

If you have a Benefit stockist close you should definitely check out Rockateur, it is truly gorgeous and I don’t think you’re going to be able to avoid purchasing it! If you’re an Australian like me, Rockateur will set you back $55 AUD, if you feel this is a little steep, buy it online at Benefit Cosmetics for $28 USD, they ship internationally!

Yves Saint Laurent Golden Gloss in Pebble, Review & Swatches!

One of the top selling lip products by Yves Saint Laurent is the Golden Gloss, last year Golden Pebble was released amongst three other shades for Summer. I received Golden Pebble for my birthday and although this was a Summer collection this particular shade screams Winter.

The packaging is absolutely gorgeous as you would expect from YSL. The gloss sits in a thick transparent plastic square tube, the tube twists open and closed. The lid is a golden mirrored plastic with the Yves Saint Laurent logo on the front. The plastic tube is transparent revealing the actual product inside.

YSL describes the Golden Gloss as “Worth its weight in gold, this gorgeous gloss dresses lips in a sophisticated, high-shine shimmer that’s truly precious. Sparkling 24 carat gold flecks (0.2%) create a mirror-like effect for guaranteed glamour, while a complex of nourishing oils protect and hydrate for optimal comfort. Scented with a subtle hint of Mango that’s utterly irresistible.”

The scent is a little overwhelming to me, it definitely isn’t mango… Maybe peach? It reminds me a bit of the smell of Rimmel lip products.

When first applied the gloss sits on the lips and seems to slowly melt in. You can definitely feel it on your lips but it isn’t sticky or tacky, you won’t feel the glitter at all.

This gloss can be worn sheer or heavy, when sheer the Golden Pebble gives a gorgeous fresh out of the cold look. I prefer to wear Golden Pebble sheer. The colour is described as ‘burgundy plum’ which is quite accurate. The gloss in the tube appears overly glittery but it definitely isn’t on the lips, purple is the predominant colour shown in the glitter.

If you have constant dry lips I think another shade might suit you better, Golden Pebble can sink into fine lines and cracks.

I haven’t tried any of the other shades, I am liking this product! If you have a Yves Saint Laurent counter available you should have a look at the Golden Gloss selection, they are a best-seller for a reason!

Benefit Away We Glow Kit, Review & Swatches!

As you may already know from my previous post, I got some new products from Benefit Cosmetics! I have always adored (from a distance) the little kits that Benefit put together so naturally when I placed my order, I had to have one! I had already chosen the other products I was purchasing and I wanted to get a kit with products that I hadn’t tried before and weren’t in my cart. The kit I chose is called ‘Away We Glow!’ and is described as a ‘glitz & glam makeup kit’.

Away We Glow caught my eye because of the range of products in the kit! The kit contains 5 eye shadows & a mini brush, mini CORALista blush, mini brush, mini Sunbeam & Highbeam, a lip gloss & BADgal lash mascara. This kit would be perfect for travelling!

The eye shadows are absolutely gorgeous. In the pan you can’t tell but the literally look glowing. I haven’t used peachy pink eye shadows before and I am in love! The shadows are all warm toned with iridescent shimmer. The texture is so soft and velvety, I haven’t tried Benefit eye shadows before and these are a hundred times better than I expected. The ‘glow’ I mentioned is because of the iridescent shimmers!

I aready have a mini Moonbeam so I was excited to try the super hyped Highbeam and Sunbeam! Im not really into liquid highlighters, I wouldn’t purchase a full size, I think these will be perfect with no foundation.

CORALista is such a gorgeous product, the colour is a gorgeous pink toned coral and glows golden. The texture is beautifully soft and silky just like the eye shadows; I can imagine CORALista will look beautiful as an eye shadow too. I think this blush may be a little to shimmery for some but would make a gorgeous highlighter! I just can’t get over how smooth and silky CORALista feels on the skin.

The gloss included is a full sized Ultra Shine Lip Gloss in the shade Life On The A-List. The only difference is the packaging is different to the Ultra Shine glosses bought individually. I can already say I will be buying more of these glosses. The formula is one of the best I’ve ever used; it’s thick but not too thick and so moisturising yet not one bit sticky – at all! The wear time is pretty standard for a gloss, worn alone it wear for about an hour or two. Life On The A-List is a milky light pink with the tiniest shimmers, Benefit describes this gloss as ‘bubble gum pink’.

I already love the BADgal Lash mascara! I usually wear fake lashes and this mascara I find doesn’t give volume just a bit of length which is exactly what I like! I can’t wait to get more use out of the Away We Glow kit, I absolutely love it, the kit was $36 USD, they all are around that price. Away We Glow is out of stock and I’m not sure if it will be back but there are two other kits very similar, I’m Glam Therefore I Am and She’s So Jetset.

I am really impressed with my Away We Glow kit and I think this has started my new Benefit Cosmetics addiction!
